17.04.08 Benedicte Page
The 26th April is to be the first national "Join a Library Day". All libraries across England will support the initiative, part of the National Year of Reading’s year-long campaign to promote library membership.
A universal library joining form has been developed for the first time by the NYR and the Society of Chief Librarians, and will be distributed through a supplement in the Daily Mirror, as well as through children’s newspaper First News and through local press.
Three hundred and fifty thousand "Welcome to Your Library" joining packs have been produced to offer information on library services and resources.
Additionally, the first 235,000 new young members will be given a free copy of the NYR’s The Ultimate Book Guide, selecting the best children’s and teenage reads.
