Bets on for Harry eight
Ladbrokes has reopened its "will there be an eighth Harry Potter book" market, following a number of requests from fans. The betting firm is offering odds of 2/1 on JK Rowling releasing another instalment of the phenomenon by the end of 2012. It is offering 1/3 on there not being another Potter novel.
Spokesperson Nick Weinberg said: "We thought we'd seen the last of the boy wizard. But some punters appear to think otherwise. In the days after the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows our customers seemed quite optimistic that he'd be back. But it all went quiet and we closed the book. However, interest in the market has been revived."
The company stipulates that any new book would have to have Harry Potter in the main title, and must be a novel to qualify.
