Gillian Green, the recently appointed fiction editorial director at Ebury, has made her first British signing for her commercial fiction list.
She acquired two novels from debut author Susy McPhee from Alice Lutyens of Curtis Brown for an undisclosed sum. The first, Husbands and Lies, describes as a story of a happily married woman who discovers her handsome husband's photograph on an internet dating site, and will be published in January 2009 as a paperback original. The second novel is scheduled for autumn 2009.
Green praised the author's "strong original voice" and "wonderful ability to balance humour and poignancy in her writing."
