Woodhead launches company in India
Woodhead Publishing, the specialist scientific and technology publishing company based in Cambridge, has started a new venture in India in partnership with Sara Books.
Called Woodhead Publishing India, the company will publish books in the same fields as Woodhead UK – materials, engineering, food science / technology, textiles and environmental technology.
Sara Books was founded by Ravindra Saxena in 2004 to offer representation in India for academic and professional publishers. Saxena will be the managing director of Woodhead Publishing India and is currently recruiting the first members of staff.
Martin Woodhead, m.d. of Woodhead Publishing, said: "[The establishment of Woodhead Publishing India] gives us a stake in one of the world’s fastest growing economies and in a market where our brand is already recognised for its quality and cutting edge technology. We are looking forward to creating a sizeable business in India with our partner Sara Books."
Exports account for 80% of Woodhead Publishing's business, and India now represent the company’s third largest market.
