Agent Catherine Clarke is shortly to close a "very major" film deal for the Emily Windsnap novels (Orion) for author Liz Kessler, who was at the Bologna Children's Book Fair to meet her international publishers.
Sarah Davies of Greenhouse was confident of closing a film deal for Sarwat Chadda's The Devil's Kiss, following lots of fair interest after UK and US deals were done just beforehand with Puffin and Hyperion.
Dreamworks optioned the film rights to the Rumblewick Diaries series at the fair. The deal means that Hachette now has three properties with the film studio, which has already optioned Cressida Cowell's Hiccup property and Louise Arnold's The Invisible Friend.
