Random in talks over Struik
01.04.08 Alison Flood
The Random House Group and New Holland Publishing have entered into discussions about combining the businesses of Random House South Africa and Struik Publishers.
The discussion process is expected to continue until the end of May. If the outcome is successful, it is intended that Stephen Johnson, the current m.d. of Random House South Africa, would lead the combined business.
Struik Publishers is based in Cape Town, and is currently owned by New Holland's South African parent Avusa. It was formerly run by Steve Connolly, who moved to the UK earlier this year to take over from John Beaufoy as m.d. of New Holland.
