Penguin gets psychic

Penguin has bought the memoir of popular ITV television psychic Sally Morgan to coincide with a new series of her show. My Psychic Life is scheduled for release on 25th September 2008 and will publish straight into paperback, priced £6.99.

Publication coincides with the transmission of the five-part second series of Morgan’s television show, "Sally Morgan: Star Psychic", which will be shown on ITV1, following its previous success on sister channel ITV2.

Penguin’s acquiring editors Katy Follain and Kate Adams hope that My Psychic Life will follow in the footsteps of fellow celebrity medium Derek Acorah’s titles, which have enjoyed commercial success after his television appearances in series such as "Most Haunted" and "Derek Acorah’s Ghost Towns".

Follain said of the project: “Sally is warm, larger-than-life and down-to-earth, and she’s got a great story to tell.” She added: “I think she’s exceptional – she makes psychic readings very accessible. It’s a very positive thing with her, there’s nothing occult and she uses her gift to help people find comfort and peace."

The memoir will chart Morgan’s life and psychic development, from the discovery of her "gift" in childhood through to her work with the police and her celebrity readings for clients who have included Uma Thurman, George Michael and the late Princess Diana.

Promotional plans are still in development, but will include an invitation to booksellers to attend shows on Morgan's forthcoming UK tour, where they will be able to meet Morgan and participate in readings with her.
