Mitchell Beazley cooks up tie-in

Mitchell Beazley has secured the tie-in to a new high-profile BBC cookery show, “What to Eat Now”, for "a handsome six-figure advance".

The series features up-and-coming chef Valentine Warner and will be made by producer Pat Llewellyn, who first brought Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay’s "The F Word" to the small screen. It will be aired in September/October on BBC2 for six weeks in a prime-time 8.30 p.m. slot.

The book of the same name is published to coincide with the show. They combine cooking and natural history in a guide to seasonal fare, with Warner foraging for food before turning it into recipes in the kitchen.

The book will consist of more than 100 recipes, illustrated with photographs by Howard Sooley. According to Mitchell Beazley, it will be highly personal, drawing on Warner’s upbringing on a farm in Dorset and featuring his own illustrations.

The publisher is planning a high-profile marketing and publicity campaign to push Warner this autumn, working closely with production company Optomen TV.
