Observer recruits new books editor

The Observer has appointed William Skidelsky as its new Books Editor. Skidelsky joins the Sunday newspaper from Prospect magazine where he is currently deputy editor. He was previously books editor at the New Statesman.
Skidelsky succeeds Robert McCrum, who has moved across to become assistant editor (books), writing across the newspaper in comment, the Review section and the magazine.
