Woolmer book from New Holland

New Holland has snapped up Bob Woolmer's Art and Science of Cricket, a book the coach completed just before his death last year during the 2007 World Cup in Jamaica. Prior to his death, Woolmer had been collaborating with South African sports scientist Professor Tim Noakes and Dr Helen Moffett, a writer and academic passionate about cricket, to develop the book.

The title (£29.99, h/b, August), with a foreword by Richie Benaud, will form the "definitive manual on playing and coaching cricket," said Lorraine McGee, New Holland publicity and promotions manager. It is unique, McGee claims, because for the first time a book "combines a cricket coach and a sports scientist working together, and they are really experts in their field".

McGee anticipates a high level of media interest in the publication because of the controversy surrounding Woolmer's death.
