Sinclair steps up at Publishing Scotland
20.03.08 Tom Tivnan
Publishing Scotland has promoted Marion Sinclair, its business development manager, to chief executive. The move will be effective from August 2008. Sinclair replaces Lorraine Fannin, who is retiring after 21 years with the trade body.
Dr Keith Whittles, chairman of Publishing Scotland, said: "The chief executive has a demanding job in coordinating activities and providing the vision for the organisation. In Marion Sinclair we have an extremely capable individual and I'm sure that the publishing sector will welcome her to the post and give her every support."
The trade body takes responsibility for the representation and development of the publishing sector in Scotland and is partly funded by the Scottish Arts Council.
Sinclair said: "The publishing industry in Scotland has a vital role in providing a written record of the country's culture both for ourselves and for outside Scotland, and we are looking forward to building on the achievements of the past thirty years to play our part in an innovative and
flourishing creative economy."
