Kohn to leave Borders

Borders UK commercial director David Kohn is to leave the retailer at the end of April. It is the second high profile departure from the bookseller in recent months after former c.e.o. David Roche resigned in January. Kohn's responsibilities will be passed onto book category manager Caroline Mileham on an interim basis. She will report to c.e.o. Philip Downer until a replacement commercial director is appointed.

Kohn joined Borders in December 2006 from W H Smith, and was responsible for its buying, marketing and supply chain functions. He was also responsible for developing its transactional website, which will launch next month.

Downer said: "David was an important member of the management team that saw the business through its sale to Risk Capital Partners [in September]. As leader of the commercial team he has been instrumental in helping the business to achieve positive like-for-like sales and a significant improvement in stock turn. We wish him the best of luck for the future."
