Textbook price rise slows
The average price of academic textbooks in the UK rose just 0.7% last year, far below the increase in the retail price index (4.3%).
Textbooks in 2007 cost an average £46.39, according to a report by the Library and Information Statistics Unit at Loughborough University.
The PA's Graham Taylor said the report showed that academic publishers can no longer be accused of over-inflationary price increases: "These figures demonstrate a tighter market with more price sensitivity."
