Abu Dhabi office for Random House

Verlagsgruppe Random House, the German trade book publishing division of RH, is to open a small office in Abu Dhabi. Stuart Applebaum, chief spokesperson of RH Worldwide, described Random House Arabia as "an exploratory start-up business venture" which would primarily be editorially oriented.
"The intention is that we will do some RH UK, some North American and some German titles in Arabic translation, and we might do some original publishing in Arabic," he said.The announcement was made during the course of the Abu Dhabi Book Fair.
Applebaum said that the local authorities had "encouraged" RH to establishing a publishing presence there. RH Arabia will be overseen by Joerg Pfuhl, head of Verlagsgruppe RH.
