RH takes top three in charts

Delia Smith has topped the charts for the third week in a row. Her How to Cheat at Cooking (Ebury) sold 67,017 copies in the week to 1st March for an average of £10.62 through the Total Consumer Market, barely half its £20 RRP.

Smith's book saw off competition from Danielle Steel's paperback Sisters (Corgi) and Katie Price’s hardback Jordan: Pushed to the Limit (Century), completing a clean sweep of the top three for the Random House Group.

Climbers on the chart included a slew of books for Mother’s Day, led by Michael O’Mara’s The Mums’ Book and Purple Ronnie’s Little Book for a Lovely Mum (Boxtree).

Rising up the children’s chart were the £1 books offered in exchange for tokens for World Book Day, which falls this Thursday (6th March). The nine titles sold 44,277 copies between them last week.

Smith and gifts for Mother's Day helped to lift book sales by almost 10% by value last week, Nielsen BookScan figures show. Total sales through the TCM over the seven-day period were worth £33m, up from £30m the week before.
