W&N gears up with new Hammond deal
29.02.08 Alison Flood
Weidenfeld & Nicolson has acquired world rights in two new books by "Top Gear" presenter Richard Hammond. The first, Back on the Wheel, is due on September 2008 and will "range widely" over Hammond's life and times.
Michael Dover, editor-in-chief of W&N Illustrated, negotiated the two-book deal with Luigi Bonomi at LBA. He said: "On the Edge demonstrated what a really good writer Richard is. Managing to be both poignant and funny it was well reviewed, achieved a wide readership of both sexes and unusually strong word-of-mouth recommendation. It is clear he will grace the bestseller lists for years to come and I am delighted that he is hard at work on two more books for Weidenfeld & Nicolson."
