Denwood leaves Macmillan for HC
29.02.08 Alison Flood
Macmillan Children's Books editorial director Rachel Denwood is joining HarperCollins Children's Books in the newly created role of publishing director. She will focus particularly on young fiction and the nine-plus market, and will take up the role in May.
Further changes at HarperCollins will see Gillie Russell take on the new position of publishing director for the 11 plus market. Both Russell and Denwood will report directly to publisher Ann-Janine Murtagh.
Senior editor Nick Lake has been promoted to commissioning editor, and editor Sally Martin has been promoted to senior editor. They will both report to Denwood.
Murtagh said: "I’m thrilled to welcome Rachel to the team. This is a strong signal of our commitment to build our fiction publishing with a clear and energetic focus, and in a way that offers authors a strong and creative environment."
