Six in running for Theatre Book Prize

A six-strong shortlist for the Theatre Book Prize has been unveiled, with Julie Kavanagh's Rudolf Nureyev and Michael Billington's The State of the Nation vying for the accolade.
The shortlist in full is:
Children and Theatre in Victorian Britain by Anne Varty (Palgrave Macmillan)
Grand Guignol and the Theatre of Horror by Michael J. Hand and Richard
Wilson (University of Exeter Press)
Harlequin Empire: Race, Ethnicity and the Drama of the Popular Enlightenment
by David Worrall (Pickering & Chatto)
Rudolf Nureyev by Julie Kavanagh (Fig Tree/Penguin)
Spectacular Flirtations by Gill Perry (Yale University Press)
The State of the Nation by Michael Billington (Faber & Faber)
The judges for the award are actress Siân Phillips, Lancaster University professor of cultural history Jeffery Richards and theatre critic Claire Allfree. The winner will be announced on 1st April.
