Jamelia signs with Orion
08.02.08 Alison Flood
Pop star Jamelia has been signed up to write her autobiography for Orion. The book will be published this September, and Jamelia will promote it in the UK.
Orion promises an “inspirational account” of how the singer rose to success, and how “others can escape from difficult circumstances to achieve their dreams”.
Jamelia signed a major record deal when she was 16 years old, and has had seven top 10 hits over the last decade, including “Superstar”, “Thank You” and “Beware of the Dog”. Last year she launched a designer haircare range, presented one of the titles on the “Richard & Judy” Book Club, and performed at the World AIDS Day show in South Africa as the personal guest of Nelson Mandela.
Non-fiction publishing director Ian Marshall bought the memoir from Jonathan Shalit at Shalit Global.
