Quercus sales on track
04.02.08 Alison Flood
Quercus says that following a "strong Christmas" it expects its 2007 sales to be in line with expectations, and significantly ahead of 2006. Pre-tax profit will also be ahead of 2006 but slightly below current market expectation, Quercus said, after an acceleration in its investment programme in staff and marketing.
The independent publisher said that it had "grown rapidly and performed well throughout the year", with data from Nielsen BookScan showing that retail sales of Quercus titles in the UK during 2007 improved by 318% over the previous year to £4.7m.
A further trading update will be provided in April, when Quercus will announce its preliminary results for 2007.
