William Hill winner to Quercus
29.01.08 Tom Tivnan
Quercus has won an auction for two books by Duncan Hamilton, winner of the 2007 William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award for Provided You Don’t Kiss Me: 20 Years With Brian Clough.
The deal, done with agent Grainne Fox at Ed Victor, is for biographies of two cricketing legends: the controversial England fast bowler Harold Larwood and the West Indian all-rounder Sir Garry Sobers. The Larwood book will be published first in September 2009.
Richard Milbank, Quercus’s publishing director for non-fiction, said: “Duncan is one of the most talented and distinctive voices in contemporary sports writing, and Quercus are proud and delighted to be publishing him.”
