S&S gets 'frank and honest' with Levy
25.01.08 Graeme Neill
Simon & Schuster has acquired the rights to publish the memoirs of Lord Levy, the controversial former aide to Tony Blair. The book will be the first insider's account of the "cash for peerages" scandal that rocked the Labour Government last year.
The rights went for an undisclosed sum and the book, which is yet to be completed, will be published later this year. Eddie Bell from Bell Lomax Moreton acted as agent to Lord Levy.
"It will be a very frank and honest memoir," said Bell. "His life has been quite remarkable from growing up a life of poverty in the east end of London to becoming a confidant to Tony Blair. From what I have read so far it is a riveting book."
Ian Chapman, S&S m.d. said that the book would be one of the highlights of the year's political calendar. "Lord Levy is a hugely charismatic, fascinating and entertaining character," he said. "His decision to tell his story in his own words will ruffle the feathers of many with good reason. This promises to be an utterly compelling account of a true entrepreneur."
