RH US offers customised book
SharedBook, the reverse publishing site that allows customers to create books from online content, has struck a deal with Random House in the US to allow readers to create personalised versions of their favorite books.
In celebration of the publishing house's 65th anniversary of Golden Books, The Poky Little Puppy will be the first personalised book to be published in the new format.
Published by Random House Children's Books, The Poky Little Puppy is one of the 12 original Little Golden Books that were published in 1942.
Consumers can create a personalised version of the book, including custom dedications and personal photos, by using an online book-making template. The book is then purchased and sent to the printer for on-demand output in laminated hardcover format.
"Giving the gift of a children's book is often a very personal and sentimental thing," said Rich Romano, executive v.p. of publishing operations at Random House Children's Books. "This technology takes giving to a new level – allowing readers to put their own touch on a favorite book before sharing it with a child."
The price for a personalised edition is $25 in laminated hardcover format.
