Coll takes on the Bin Ladens
15.01.08 Alison Flood
Pulitzer Prize-winner Steve Coll has been signed by Simon Winder at Penguin Press for an in-depth look at the Bin Laden family. Winder bought UK, Commonwealth and serial rights in Coll’s The Bin Ladens: The Story of a Family and Its Fortune from agent Melanie Jackson, and is publishing this April.
The book uses hundreds of interviews and Coll’s own knowledge of Saudi–Arabian society to delve into the unique place held by the Bin Laden family. It also provides a "wealth of new material" about Osama Bin Laden, Winder said.
Coll has been working on the book in secret since finishing his latest title Ghost Wars, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 2005.
