Borders picks Gardners for new website
15.01.08 Graeme Neill
Wholesaler Gardners will carry out fulfilment for the new Borders.co.uk website, which is scheduled to be launched in March. Along with providing physical titles and audiobooks for the Borders site, the wholesaler will also provide e-books and audio downloads from its digital warehouse.
Geoff O'Neill, head of supply chain for Borders, said: "Whilst Borders is a relatively late entrant into the online books market, we believe that in partnering with Gardners we will benefit from their many years of experience and enable Borders to more quickly establish a significant presence in the market."
Borders had previously used Amazon to distribute its online orders but has been looking at developing its own e-commerce business since its takeover by Risk Capital Partners last year.
