Moynahan steps up at RH India
The Random House Group has promoted Michael Moynahan to chairman of Random House New Zealand and m.d. of Random House India with the aim to "strengthen its overseas operations".
Stepping up from his current role as m.d. of Random House NZ, Moynahan will be responsible for the overall strategic development of the India business, which was established in 2005, with all publishing, operational, sales and marketing functions reporting to him. He will also continue to bring "a strategic and international perspective" to the NZ business.
Karen Ferns, currently sales and marketing director at Random House NZ, will take on responsibility for day-to-day management of the New Zealand business, replacing Moynahan in the role of m.d. Moynahan will continue to report to Brian Davies, m.d. of overseas companies at RHG.
Gail Rebuck, RHG chairman and c.e.o., said: "India is a key strategic market for us and Michael's appointment reflects our commitment to building on the already impressive performance of both our international and local lists.
She added that the promotion would enable the company to "realise even greater potential from what is destined to become one of our most important international markets".
Moynahan said: "India is a vibrant and challenging market offering huge opportunities and I am delighted to be driving the business forward and leading it through this next stage of development."
