Fans to produce Cornwell paperback ad
Little, Brown is challenging Patricia Cornwell fans to create a TV advert for her thriller Book of the Dead, in a competition launched with TV channel Five and website HYPtv and judged by Cornwell herself.
Fans of the author are being asked to come up with a 20-second advert for the book, either in shortfilm or storyboard form. The winner receives £2,500, and the winning advert will run nationally on Five for at least one week to tie in with the publication of the paperback on 17th April.
The competition will be promoted via 40-second adverts on Five from today (14th January) until 23rd January. A shortlist of six will be announced on 10th March and the winner, chosen by Cornwell, will be announced 17th March.
The submissions will be featured online at www.bookofthedead.hyptv.com, with visitors to the website invited to comment and rate the entries.
Emma Williams, marketing executive at Little, Brown said: "We wanted to create a unique and original marketing campaign suitable for the UK’s number one crime writer, Patricia Cornwell and one which allows fans to really engage with the books. We've successfully collaborated with HYPtv before and Five’s reputation for screening top crime drama, make them an ideal exclusive partner."
