Changes at the top at Bertelsmann
Gunter Thielen has been appointed the new chairman of the supervisory board of Bertelsmann AG. The former Bertelsmann chairman and c.e.o. has sat on the supervisory body since 1st January, and now succeeds Dieter Vogel, who stepped down at the end of last year. The first supervisory board meeting chaired by Thielen is scheduled for 25th January.
As part of the company's move to separate shareholder and corporate interests, Thielen left the Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft (BVG), which unites all the voting rights in Bertelsmann AG, at the end of 2007. Thielen’s successor as BVG shareholder will be elected in due course.
Willi Pfannkuche, longtime works council chairman at Mohn Media and one of the four employee representatives on the Bertelsmann AG supervisory board, also left at the end of the year, having taken early retirement. His successor on the supervisory board will be elected at the Bertelsmann AG’s regular annual general meeting in April.
