Carr memoir to HC
08.01.08 Alison Flood
Comedian Alan Carr has signed with HarperCollins to write his autobiography. Harper Non-Fiction editorial director Natalie Jerome bought world rights in Carr's memoir from Addison Cresswell at Off the Kerb Productions, and will publish in October 2008.
Carr is star of Channel 4's "The Friday Night Project". His autobiography will detail his upbringing in a football mad family: his father managed Northampton Town FC, his grandfather played for Newcastle United and his uncle for PSV Eindhoven, while Carr himself, "a touch overweight with buck teeth and glasses", could barely kick a ball. He will write the book himself.
Jerome said: "I’ve long been a fan of Alan Carr and it’s been a real treat to watch his career go from strength to strength. He is an absolute natural comic who can make anything sound funny. We’re very much looking forward to publishing his autobiography- it will be really exciting for Alan and for us too."
Carr added: "I am so excited to be putting my life down on paper, oh and what a life, from the grimness of doing data entry for Mr Dog to the dizzy heights of performing for Her Majesty at the Royal Variety Performance. My life’s been like a log flume, up and down with a couple of damp patches in the middle."
