Tom Wolfe moves to Little, Brown
Tom Wolfe has ended his 42-year relationship with US publisher Farrar, Straus & Giroux, selling the rights to his next novel to Little, Brown for an advance of "close to USD 7m", according to the New York Times.
The newspaper reported that Jonathan Galassi, publisher of Farrar, Straus, which has published 13 books with Wolfe, said he liked what he saw of the new novel, Back to Blood, but added: “We just couldn’t agree on terms.”
A handful of publishers were allowed to see an excerpt from the new novel, and Little, Brown won the rights to publish it after an auction that ended just before Christmas. The company bought North American rights and hopes to publish in 2009.
