More from Belle de Jour
The Belle de Jour brand is starting to build, with ITV2 screening another series based on The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl next year and a film version also in the pipeline.
The second series of the real-life diaries, produced by Tiger Aspect, will again feature Billie Piper in the starring role and run for 14 30-minute episodes. Production is scheduled to start on 2nd June 2008, and ITV2 plans to broadcast from September 2008.
In addition, the US channel Showtime/USA has signed both series, Warner Home Video has acquired the UK DVD rights and will release the DVD on 7th January 2008, and Tiger Aspect’s sister company, Tiger Aspect Pictures, has made “a handsome offer” for the feature film rights, according to agent Patrick Walsh of Conville & Walsh.
The first series has already boosted sales of the book, with the tie-in edition (Phoenix) selling more than 113,000 copies through Nielsen BookScan since its September publication.
