Matt Haig wins Nestlé Prize
Matt Haig has won a gold medal at this year’s Nestlé Children’s Book Prize for his fantasy tale Shadow Forest (Bodley Head).
The former bartender beat fellow shortlisted titles in the nine to 11-year-olds category, Catcall by Linda Newbery (Orion), which was awarded the silver medal, and Here Lies Arthur by Philip Reeve (Scholastic) with bronze.
When a Monster is Born by Sean Taylor and Nick Sharratt won in the under five category, while Ottoline and the Yellow Cat by Chris Riddell scooped gold in six to eight.
