Noel moves to Penguin

Chantal Noel is leaving Pan Macmillan for Penguin, where she will succeed Sophie Brewer as rights director. Noel, who joins Penguin in the new year, has been rights director at Pan for the last nine years. She will be responsible for both the Penguin adult and the Puffin rights teams at Penguin.

Brewer leaves Penguin at Christmas after 11 years at the company "to pursue new challenges in the industry".

Penguin m.d. Helen Fraser said: "I am delighted that Chantal is coming to join our senior team here at Penguin.  Sophie has been a brilliant rights director and fantastic colleague. We knew it would be difficult to match her range of experience, deadly negotiating skills and commitment to the job. In Chantal I believe we’ve found the best possible replacement. She is very highly regarded throughout the publishing and newspaper communities and she will bring her own unique qualities and expertise to the position."

Noel added: "I’ve had a wonderful time at Pan Macmillan and am grateful for the many opportunities I have been given and the many good colleagues who have become great friends, but the chance to work at Penguin, with its unique history and dynamic publishing teams, is enormously appealing, and I am much looking forward to joining them next year."
