Coleen turns to children's fiction

Coleen McLoughlin is to write a series of children's books for HarperCollins as well as three more non-fiction titles. The children's series, entitled Coleen Style Queen, is aimed at 10-12 year old girls. It will centre on a fictional character inspired by McLoughlin's childhood who faces fashion challenges along with the dilemmas posed by school, family, friends and boys. The first two books in the series will be launched in Spring 2008.

Non-fiction title Coleen’s Real Style will be published in September 2008 and is McLoughlin's guide to fashion, hair, beauty and make-up. It will follow her new TV programme, Coleen McLoughlin’s Real Women, to be screened early next year, which sees her searching for realistically sized models from Britain’s female population. There will be two further non-fiction titles.

The agreement for worldwide rights across all titles was jointly negotiated by Belinda Budge, m.d. and publisher of Harper Non-Fiction, and Sally Potter, publishing director of Harper Non-Fiction, with Paul Stretford of Proactive Talent Management.

McLoughlin said: "I had a great experience working with the team at HarperCollins on my last book and really enjoyed the whole process. When they approached me about the possibility of extending the contract I was delighted."
