Bloomsbury's Tahsin becomes editor-at-large

Arzu Tahsin, Bloomsbury paperback publishing director, is to become editor-at-large at the publisher. Tahsin has been at Bloomsbury since 2002; she was formerly at Vintage.

The news comes as Bloomsbury consults with its staff over possible redundancies at its trade division. The publisher is expected to cut around six to eight jobs, as it aims for "continued organic growth" after Harry Potter. It currently employs around 400 staff worldwide, including 300 in the UK.

Tahsin said: "This fantastic opportunity allows a more flexible working arrangement and means I can continue working with such authors as Khaled Hosseini, Jim Lynch and Anne Zouroudi. I have many exciting projects in the next two years including a compelling debut from Alan Drew, Gardens of Water, set in Turkey after the 1999 earthquake and an extraordinary new voice from Pakistan, Daniel Mueenuddin, as well as the series of groundbreaking child-care bibles from the team at Mumsnet."
