Transworld author Ariana Franklin has won The CWA Ellis Peters Historical Award 2007 for her novel Mistress of the Art of Death. The prize was awarded at a reception in Fitzroy Square, and she was crowned the winner from a shortlist that included, among others, Stef Penney's The Tenderness of Wolves and Mark Mills' The Savage Garden. The judges said it was the strongest shortlist in years.
Mistress of the Art of Death is Transworld's first novel with Ariana, and the paperback edition will be released on the 10th March. The sequel, The Death Maze, will be published by Bantam Press in May 2008.
