Pocket style for Anova's Companions
Illustrated publisher Anova is re-packaging its Schott's Miscellany-style Companions Trivia series into a compact notebook format.
The Companions, originally published under Anova's Robson imprint, have been moved to the Pavilion list and renamed Pocket Companions. Designed to be carried around easily by travellers—and promising to "make boring commutes a thing of the past"—the new format resembles smaller Moleskine notebooks (approximately 5½˝ by 3½˝) with each title bound by an elastic enclosure, and featuring a back pocket and some blank pages for notes.
Each title in the new series, "stuffed with fun facts and trivia" around specific subjects, will contain some revised content from the original Companions.
The revamp launches with four titles on 1st November: overall series editor Malcolm Tait's Walker's Pocket Companion, Jo Swinnerton's Cook's Pocket Companion, Georgina Newbery's Traveller's Pocket Companion and Lesley Crawford's Fishing Pocket Companion (all h/b, £6.99). Four more titles, Birdwatcher's, London, Gardener's and Sailing, will be released in March.
Laura Brudenell, Anova's head of marketing and publicity, said: "We were looking at rejuvenating our successful Companion series and wanted a format that was not only travel-friendly and practical but also stylish. The pocket element of the book and the notepaper meant that we were providing more than just a good read."
