Cookery books put to the test on Five
26.10.07 Anna Richardson
Five is launching a new cookery series, which will tackle some of the UK's best-known cookery books. "Cooking the Books" is a 35-part cookery entertainment series, which will start on on 12th November. Presented by actor and former "Celebrity MasterChef" contestant Jeremy Edwards, each week-day, 30-minute programme will be themed around a bestselling cookery book.
Guest chefs such as Sophie Grigson, Simon Rimmer, Ainsley Harriott, Jean-Christophe Novelli, John Burton Race and Bill Granger will demonstrate their signature dishes in front of a studio audience of food fanatics, who will assess the recipes' page-to-palate conversion. Each episode also features a mystery celebrity, filmed cooking incognito in their own kitchens. Again, their efforts will be judged by the studio audience and guest chefs.
Five's head of features, Alex Menzies, said: "It's great to see a cookery show back on Five after all this time. 'Cooking The Books' is enormous fun and packed full of down to earth advice and exciting recipes to try. Most importantly we'll really put Britain's favourite cookbooks, and their authors, through their paces."
