Haynes takes military approach
Motor manual publisher Haynes is launching a new aviation and military books list. The list will be headed by Jonathan Falconer, who was appointed senior commissioning editor at the publisher on 8th October. He will be responsible for developing publishing opportunities across the historical and contemporary aviation and military subject areas.
The first titles in the list will be released in spring 2008, with an emphasis on 20th century military history and aviation. Haynes hopes to build the list to about 20 to 30 titles a year.
Falconer said he was "hugely excited" about the challenge of launching the list. He added: "It's starting from scratch, which is always a bit daunting, but I have been getting a large amount of support from Haynes."
Falconer was most recently senior commissioning editor at Sutton Publishing. An expert on aviation and military history, he has also written 19 books, including The Dam Busters and The Bomber Command Handbook.
Mark Hughes, editorial director at Haynes, said: "Jonathan brings considerable expertise to Haynes, having commissioned books in these subject areas for 13 years with Sutton and before that in the 80s with Ian Allan."
