Green joins Ebury for fiction push
24.10.07 Katherine Rushton
Random House's Ebury division has recruited Piatkus' Gillian Green to launch a new list of commercial fiction. Green will join as editorial director in early 2008, reporting to senior publishing director, Hannah MacDonald. The list will build on Ebury's successful novels by Julian Clary and Kerry Katona, publishing ten novels in the first year and 20 novels a year thereafter.
Green has fourteen years of experience in commercial fiction, with four years at Harlequin before a decade at Piatkus. She joined the company—now part of Little, Brown—with the remit of expanding its newly launched fiction list, and worked with major US names like Nora Roberts and Linda Howard, as well as UK talent like Christina Jones and Zoë Barnes.
Ebury publisher Jake Lingwood said: "Moving into fiction will see us continue to broaden Ebury's successful brand of smart, commercial publishing into new areas. Gillian brings with her a wealth of expertise and a fantastic reputation. She's the perfect person to start what is a very exciting new venture and one that will see Ebury become a significant contender in the fiction market."
Green said: "I've loved every minute of my time at Piatkus but felt the time was right for a new challenge. I'm thrilled to be joining Ebury and truly excited at the prospect of building a new commercial fiction list which I hope will be as exciting, vibrant, diverse and entertaining as Ebury's non-fiction lists."
