CHA wins sought after US memoir
23.10.07 Katherine Rushton
Random House's CHA division has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to The Good Daughter by US author Jasmin Darznik, to be published by William Heinemann in summer 2009. The book tells of three generations of women in Darznik’s Iranian family, and was inspired by tapes sent to Darznik by her mother, after Darznik stumbled upon a wedding photograph of her marrying another man.
Vanessa Neuling sealed the deal with Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein acting for Kelly Sonnack at the Sandra Dijkstra Literary Agency; North American rights were won by Grand Central in a six-figure deal. "Darznik steers an elegant and evocative path through her family’s secret history in Iran, and
this is an unforgettable tale of life as a 'two-veined' girl," Neuling said.
