New comms chief for HC
17.10.07 Alison Flood
HarperCollins has found a new director of communications in the shape of Siobhan Kenny, former Walt Disney Television EMEA vice president of communications. Kenny starts this week and will report to c.e.o. and publisher Victoria Barnsley.
Kenny was at Walt Disney for two years. She was previously director of strategy and communication at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, where she worked on the London Olympic bid and the renewal of the BBC charter.
She has also worked for the Prime Minister's Office at 10 Downing Street under John Major and then Tony Blair.
Barnsley said: " There has never been a more important time to get our communications right- both internally and externally- and with her wealth of experience in both media businesses and in government, Siobhan is ideally placed to spearhead our communications strategy."
Kenny added: "The digital world presents huge opportunities for the publishing industry, just as it does for all content providers. In a fast-changing world, it's especially important to get your communications right and I am looking forward to joining the team at HarperCollins UK."
