10.10.07 Alison Flood
Penguin Group c.e.o. and chairman John Makinson is to chair the judging panel for the International Young Publisher of the Year Award next year. The award is a joint initiative of the British Council and the London Book Fair, designed to celebrate entrepreneurial leadership in young publishers from emerging economies.
It sees ten international finalists traveling to the UK to tour the UK publishing sector, attend LBF and compete for the award with a presentation about their vision for their country's publishing industry to the panel of judges. The winner receives a free exhibition stand at the next London Book Fair and £7,500.
Last year's winner was the 33-year-old founder and editor of India-based publishing house Navayana.
