Davidson to Square Peg for Random
10.10.07 Alison Flood
Random House UK division CCV is launching a new non-fiction imprint, Square Peg, which will be run by Rosemary Davidson. She was formerly senior commissioning editor at Bloomsbury and is co-author of recent bestseller The Great Big Glorious Book for Girls (Viking). Focusing on "eclectic and commercial" non-fiction in hardback and paperback, it will publish three titles next year and eight a year thereafter.
Davidson has already bought two titles for the list: Martin Ellory's cookbook London Food, which features recipes from the ethnic communities of London; and The Really Resourceful Mum's Handbook by Elen Lewis, a guide to bringing up a baby on a budget. Both titles will be published in 2009, and she bought the first from David Godwin.
CCV publishing director Dan Franklin said: "[Rosemary] has a wonderful nose for a book. Sometimes they are quirky, but often you think ‘Why didn't I think of that?'"
