Gardener & Cook opens at Foyles
Antiquarian and rare bookseller Gardener & Cook is to open a concession at the Foyles Charing Cross Road flagship branch.
Around 400 books on gardening, horticulture and food and drink, from the 18th century to the present day, will be on sale instore, with prices ranging from £10 to £10,000. The titles will be stocked on an island in the basement of the branch, with the more expensive books locked in a special cabinet. Customers will be able to order from a range of 8,000 titles.
Foyles is also introducing the Pimpernel Elusive Book Search run by Gardener & Cook founder Jonathan Tootell, which will help customers to source hard-to-find titles.
Janette Cross, manager of the cookery and natural history department at Foyles, said that the range would add to Foyles' contemporary titles instore. "Every day we get a request for out-of-print and second-hand cookery or natural history titles, so the addition of Gardener & Cook is a welcome asset to Foyles," she said. The shop already operates the Unsworth concession, which sells rare and antiquarian books, in the Charing Cross shop.
Foyles has also started selling titles at "The Wonder Room", a luxury goods area at Selfridges' Oxford Street store. Alongside brands such as Hermès and Tiffany, Foyles will be selling titles including David Batterham's The World of Ornament (Taschen), which will retail for £120.
