Luxury travel for Conran
19.09.07 Alison Flood
Conran Octopus has signed a deal with Hong Kong-based travel guide publisher Luxe City Guides to publish the list through Europe and the Middle East.
The pocket-sized Luxe City Guides cover 22 destinations in Asia, Australia, Europe and the US, and are the brainchild of founder and publishing editor Grant Thatcher. Conran describes them as "witty, hip and ultra smart".
Conran Octopus and Luxe will work together to develop the current list and create new publishing projects under the Luxe brand. The books have only been stocked in a handful of stores in the UK so far, mainly high-end lifestyle shops, and Conran will work to get the list stocked throughout UK bookstores.
"For us, it expands our definition of lifestyle," said Conran Octopus publisher Lorraine Dickey. "For them, it gives them the muscle of working with a much bigger publisher. Upmarket travel is something we've always been interested inÑthis is the perfect fit for us."
