News Corp 'not interested' in Pearson
Pearson c.e.o. Dame Marjorie Scardino doubts that News Corporation would turn its attentions to Pearson should it fail to land Dow Jones, according to The Times. "We are not what Rupert Murdoch is after, he is after the large US market" she told the paper. "But I cannot pretend to understand the corporate mind of News Corp."
Scardino was speaking to the Times following Pearson's half-year results, which saw adjusted pre-tax profits of £54 million in the first half of the year, 74% up on the same period a year ago. The Times considers the results in depth, looking particularly at the education side of the business and at the Financial Times.
