RH christens Dolby imprint
30.07.07 Katherine Rushton
Trevor Dolby and Rosie de Courcy’s new imprint at the Random House Group has been named Preface Publishing. The announcement comes in line with news of its launch list lined up for spring 2008, comprising A Point of View by Lisa Jardine and a spy thriller, The Cleaner, by American debut novelist Brett Battles. Other titles to follow include Grumpy Old Rockstar by Rick Wakeman and In Fact, a compilation of the eponymous column in Prospect Magazine.
Dolby, formerly publisher at HarperCollins, joined Random House in April to set up Preface as a new list straddling non-fiction and fiction. “I am delighted that Preface has developed at such a fast pace since its inception in April,” he said. “It is very exciting to be able to formally name the imprint and give it a strong identity.” Rosie de Courcy joined the company as publishing director in March.
The list will sit alongside Virgin Books as a stand-alone business under the publishing portfolio being developed by CCV m.d. Richard Cable. “The naming of Preface is a real milestone in the development of this new venture,” Cable said. “It is really pleasing to see Preface’s acquisitions get off to such a strong start. We are all delighted at the way in which the list has been welcomed by authors and agents alike.”
