W H Smith bosses eye £20m bonus

The Telegraph reports that senior managers at W H Smith are on the verge of collecting a bonus of almost £20m after announcing better-than-expected interim results. Analysts upgraded profit forecasts for W H Smith yesterday after the interim results.

Kate Swann, chief executive of W H Smith, is in line to collect a bonus of £3.5m, with a further 40 senior managers expected to share up to £16.5m from a long-term incentive scheme put in place at the end of 2004. It is one of the first of a new generation of schemes to mature.
