Bloomsbury launches 'Look Inside' widget
17.04.07 Philip Jones
Bloomsbury Publishing is joining Random House and HarperCollins by launching a "Look Inside" widget. The publishing company announced two weeks ago that it was developing a digital widget, and has now revealed that it is working with NewsStand's LibreDigital to launch the feature.
The new feature is already available for a selection of books on the company's website. "Working with LibreDigital, we can bring book content online in a manner that provides substantial benefits to all of the parties involved, including readers, authors and booksellers," said Stephanie Duncan, the digital media director for Bloomsbury. "In the end, our ability to bring all of our book content into the digital age will greatly expand how readers consume their favorite books and interact with other fans, thereby benefiting the book industry as a whole."
Bloomsbury will make the feature available for booksellers to use on their own websites. The "Look Inside" feature will be available on all Bloomsbury websites, including Bloomsbury USA, Walker & Company, A&C Black and Berlin Verlag.
LibreDigital is a division of NewsStand, which is January entered into a commercial relationship with HarperCollins to develop digital services for the publishing industry.
